Anxiety
Anxiety in black women is usually unrecognized and unaddressed. Black women are more likely to experience high performing anxiety allowing them to appear capable and well put-together while experiencing chronic worry, overthinking, stress and overall pressure. The messages that black women receive about themselves also contribute to their experience of anxiety. Black women are often taught to be strong, persistent and in control, making them likely to dismiss their own feelings and experiences. Working together, we will address culturally specific contributors to anxiety, reframe what it means to be strong and learn how to implement healthy coping skills and self-care.
